Ambassador Jiang Xuebin Attends a Series of Celebrations for the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Türkiye in Fethiye

From July 9 to 10, Ambassador Jiang Xuebin visited Fethiye, where he met with Akkaia, District Governor of Fethiye, and Karaca, Mayor of Fethiye. He attended the “Shanshui Tongqing” Cultural Exchange Exhibition between Huzhou and Fethiye, the “Silk Road Harmony” Chinese Music and Dance Performance, and the unveiling ceremony of Chinese-language tourist signs. He also joined Turkish representatives in planting olive trees as a symbol of friendship marking the diplomatic ties between the two countries. More than 2,000 people, including representatives from local governments, political parties, business communities, media and local residents, participated in the events. Counselor Zhou Meifen from the Chinese Embassy accompanied the ambassador.

Ambassador Jiang noted that China-Türkiye friendship has a long history. Over the 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, fruitful results have been achieved in exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Sub-national exchanges have increasingly become an important pillar of bilateral relations, helping to consolidate traditional friendship and create new highlights for bilateral cooperation. As the birthplace of the “Two Mountains Theory,” Huzhou shares similar mountain and sea ecological beauty with Fethiye. Both cities boast profound historical and cultural heritage and high-quality tourism resources. He expressed the hope that the two sides will further strengthen exchanges and mutual learning on ecological and environmental protection concepts, expand cooperation in areas such as environmental protection, culture, education and tourism, and continuously inject new impetus into the development of bilateral relations.

The Turkish side warmly welcomed Ambassador Jiang’s visit, saying that Fethiye has long been committed to green development and ecological progress, attaches great importance to cooperation with China, and actively promotes sister-city relations. It expressed keen expectations for bringing bilateral cooperation to a new level.
